Aspects to Creating a Good Brand

Brand Creation

Have you ever heard the saying “People buy people”?  It is an old saying and a true one.  When you buy anything in a shop you generally do so as you trusted and liked the sales person.  It is the same for a business, customers buy from companies that they trust and recognise.  It is the same for any brand, this is what people have faith in.  Sometimes having multiple brands can be a good business strategy.  But our advice it to get one
working well first!

Your brand is your business identity, it tells your potential customers who you are and it is their first impression of you. It is important to get it right, to get a brand that represents what you do.  A good brand will help you to achieve more, to gain more customers and orders, it helps to give confidence and trust in your business.

Our brand development service has been designed to help you to create a unique, memorable and protectable brand.  Whatever your needs are, we can help.  From a simple logo design to complete brand research, development and protection.  We are able to support you at any or every stage.

Branding Examples

Think of a company that you trust and they most likely have a brand that they promote and it is this brand that you have faith in. They may well have several brand identities, as they want to appeal to different people in
different ways.

Changing a brand is difficult, and risky, so let’s get it right from the start.  Before you spend time and money promoting your business, services or products, spend some time (and money) to get a brand identity that works!

Here are a few examples of brands that you may well know:

Virgin

What would Richard Branson be without the Virgin brand?  His biggest achievement is not in the hundreds of businesses that he is part of, but in developing a brand that people trust and that he can now use to launch in many industries and globally.

Dixon's Store Group (DSG)

Curry’s, Dixon's and PC World are all brands of DSG they have been developed individually to give you trust in each one as a “specialist” retailer.  Their adverts promote positive aspects: good pricing, the promise of expert support and advice.  Yet while claiming to be specilised in each area that really one big company…

Dyson

What a fantastic brand, new and fresh, easy to remember and marketed to us in a brilliant way.  Developing a good vacuum cleaner is not enough, the reason for the success of James Dyson is they way he created a brand around his inventions.  People buy Dyson because we trust the brand and what it stands for.

Carphone Warehouse (CPW)

CPW is a prime example, the brand name is outdated now, after all, who buys Carphones anymore?  However they have chosen to keep the name it is well known and trusted. To change to a new brand, no matter how good the name is, would cost them a more than new signage, it would loose them many years of faith, loyalty, good will and trust.   They have overcome this by buying up and developing other brands, these include Mobiles.co.uk, E2Save, OneStopPhoneShop, Talk Talk, AOL Broadband, and many others.

O2

O2 on the other hand has changed names on several occasions, from Cellnet to BT Cellnet to now to O2.  The new brand is strong, memorable and internationally understood.   The rebranding cost millions but in this case it was an excellent idea and a big success.

Santander

The Santander group of companies have many brands, some they developed and some they purchased.  These include banks and building societies such as Abbey, Bradford & Bingley, and Nationwide.  Each brand give us a different feeling and service, so they now have three chances at getting our business…

Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS)

RBS could be your bank or insurance company without you even realising it.  They own many strong brands, including Nat West Bank, Churchill, Direct Line, Mint, Greenflag and more.  Each brand has completely different identities, marketing strategies and appeal to different people.  You can learn more about their brand here: http://www.rbs.com/global_options.asp?id=GLOBAL/CONTACT_US/OTHER_BRANDS
